Amazing Sunset - Out of the Office

As I drove off to Redding, CA this evening I watched the most magnificent migration of birds heading south that I've ever seen. Not just the normal 100's of birds forming a V or two, but thousands of birds forming hundreds of V's within the span of 1/2 hour. Right at the most amazing sunset to boot. I pulled off I-5 to get my camera from the back and took a few shots. But as I got back on the highway, I saw more and more birds and I was simply amazed. I shot right out the window as I was driving....not advised for the novice....but couldn't be passed up. The rays of the sun were shooting out from the clouds and the thousands of birds just dotted the skyline. After a few "driving" shots, I realized I should just put the camera down and enjoy the moment. Well worth the 3 hour drive. Click on each of these images to see a larger version. Upon my arrival, I've already met some cool people at our meet and greet. And we're all hooked up to carpool out to a winery tomorrow at 8am to spend the day shooting with Zack Arias. I'm super stoked! On Tuesday, I'll be shooting with David Beckstead in the Lassen National Forrest! Way COOL!!! Wednesday is a combined day with both of them, and I'll be coming home Thursday.

I will be blog posting while I'm out....there is so much to catch up on. Samantha's 1st birthday, Jase and Addison were both born this last week (our own Nicole and Teresa are proud Great Aunt's and Aunt's respectively), a special thank you gift from our January bride Tina W., our own Tina's debut as the front page designer of Sac City College's newspaper, and Amy and Mark's wedding day with Kelly's debut as primary photographer. It's been an exciting week!
