We stopped along the way for random landscapes and random tree and flower shots. I found three churches before we arrived at the Haleakala National Park at Kipahulu. The first was from a distance and the next two churches were in the town of Hana (Wananalua Church and St. Mary's Hana Catholic Church).

We decided to hike the entire Pipiwai Trail at the Park. The park attendant said it was still pretty muddy from the storms but we trekked onwards. The first fall at Makahiku is 184 feet and found at the .5 mile marker. The big fall is found by winding your way through alien bamboo and guava forests. The hike was well worth seeing the 400-foot Waimoku Falls. However, note to self - need to bring Off Bug Spray next time. Those mosquitoes took several chunks out of both Cory and I. Cory did manage to catch a shot of a butterfly as we were running away from the mosquitoes. The hike took us just at 2 hours.

We continued on past the Park to Palapala Ho'omau Congregational Church for one last church shot.
