As Seen In - Sacramento Bride and Groom Magazine
Sacramento Bride and Groom has now for the last several issues done a cover contest amongst the local photographers. Teresa has a been a past winner. Cory, Kelly, and Teresa have all had their images place. Alas...I finally have an image that placed! I'm super excited to show off Erika from her wedding last August. It helps to place when you have such a gorgeous woman!
And we have some random editorial throughout the magazine. Shown below is Jessie and Brian, our current ad couple. I just love this image from their engagement shoot.

Movie Review - Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen
Okay, I have to admit I've never been to a IMAX film. Friday was the opening of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen and Cory was already asking at like 10am if we could go! :-) Of course, Carie and I were working and I told him we'd have to wait.
But as lunch rolled around, I told him we could try to make the 3:40 showing at the IMAX in El Dorado Hills. So I essentially kicked Carie out at 3pm so that Cory and I could go watch a movie on a Friday afternoon. It was awesome! We both agree that it is just as good if not better than the first movie. I was super suprised when we watched the first movie and I found that I liked it a lot. My first experience at IMAX could not have been any better with the effects in this movie!

Marites and Gil - Extended Sneak Peak
Marites and Gil were married just a few weeks back and have just returned from their honeymoon. It couldn't be a better time to show off their extended sneak peak. Bree and I started the day at their home with a few details shots - this amazing ring shot goes to Bree - I'm severely jealous at how awesome it is!
Marina, Marites's daughter, helped with getting dressed. Marites wore an elegant dress and oh my gosh, the best shoes!
Outside Cory started with some shots of the ceremony site before guests arrived. It was such a perfect day considering we were worried about rain. The sky was just the bluest blue.
The thing I love about Gil and Marites from the very start of our friendship was their love for each other and for life. When they talked about their theme "Passion for Love. Passion for Life." I just knew we were meant to cross paths. I revealed to them my mission when I first created The Memory Journalists - to teach others the passion of living. Yep, meant to cross paths. In true spirit of Passion for Life, Gil and Marites sent home a miniture Maple tree as their favor for each guest.
There are so many wonderful things to say about this couple. I love their display of emotion and affection for the family and to their friends; they are such a giving couple and you can't help but be touched by them. During the ceremony, Gil and his siblings released a balloon in memory of their mom. The Dolanc String Quartet played and the Vocal Art Ensemble sang. The music selections were meaningful to Gil and Marites and while they listened, a few tears were shed.
As sincere and sweet was the ceremony, the tented reception was as fun and full of laughter. The details were remarkable - thanks to Eric of Bacchus Elegant Events and Catering. Celebrations Party Rentals provided much of the decor. Gil shared from his wine cellar - much to my sadness - I didn't partake in the wine tasting. Next time Gil!
Their first dance was the best ever! Check out all these amazing dance sequences as their choreographed dance went off without a hitch! Mike of Creative Memories Entertainment kept everyone on the dance floor. The lighting was amazing and really was a testament to how much Mike wants to make every wedding fantanstic. We had the opportunity to work with many topnotch vendors: all those mentioned above and one of our favorite videography teams, Steve and Kevin were filming for Jensen Wedding Films. We shot some fun "in action" shots of you guys - we'll be sure to send them your way! And it was our first time working with Pastor Kevin Scruggs - we'll be sure to recommend him to any couples looking for a down to earth officiant. Saul and Michelle made up the amazing hair and make-up team for Marites and the girls.

Nace - Table Winner!
Carie and I attended the Our Wedding celebration of their new issue release at Cosmo Cafe on Thursday evening. We met up with Monty of All Seasons All Reasons Catering and headed over to share a glass of wine at Fats restaurant and some yummy dinner. It was nice to get catch up with Monty since I didn't get to attend Nace on Tuesday, which I heard was fabulous!
Nace did a tablescape contest for its members to show off their talent. The winning table was a great team: Catriona of Arcularius Events, Sharri Black and team at Studio B, Martha Andrews with Blooms, Sara Hamm with Bella Vita Invitations, and Classic Party Rentals. I borrowed this image from Cat's website to show off their winning table. Way to go girls!
There were many other great table designs as well from what I hear. You can check out Lora (A Day to Remember) and Kendra's (Pfeiffer Event Planning) table on Lora's blog. Decadently named "Riviere Chocolat Diamant"...yummy!!!!

Lora Ward - A Day To Remember
I had lunch with Lora Ward of A Day To Remember Wedding Consultants this last week. It was nice to sit and break bread, so to speak, and talk non-shop for awhile. Lora shared some insight and advice about taking care of parents and the role we sometimes have to take on as children.
Last month Lora was our Spotlight On vendor in our Memory Journalists newsletter. Here is a few things she had to share with us:
My top favorite item to incorporate into event design...
Emotion (includes laughter, happy tears, sentimentality, anticipation and even awkward embarrassment.)
The CD currently playing in my car is…
A collection of funk, disco and old school – the 70’s were my formative dancin’ years!
The most extravagant wedding I ever planned was…
I have enjoyed coordinating many wonderful weddings, however, one of the more beautiful and a bit on the “extravagant” side was one held on a hillside above the Pacific Ocean, at the beautiful Bacara Resort & Spa in Santa Barbara, CA. All guests wore white, the groom entered the ceremony riding a beautiful white horse, the bride enjoyed two wedding gowns, white doves were released, the guests dined on a 6 course dinner in a stunning theatrically lighted room, the wedding cake was taller than the groom, and the evening’s entertainment was a famous Flamenco guitarist flown in for the reception.

Meet Tiberius
Or Ty for short. I had lunch at Carie's house this last week and was able to bring the camera and snap a few of her dog Tiberius. He's stinkin' cute! I asked Carie to share a bit out Ty...
"I rescued Ty 2 and a half years ago from Calavaras County. He was a year and a half old. I found him on petfinders. I had always wanted a Boxer and found Ty 3 dogs down on the available Boxers list. In his photo he looked like he was looking right at me and I knew he was going to be my dog. He was in a situation where he was not getting enough people time and kept escaping. Boxers are known escape artists. His owner wanted a better life for him so he put him in foster care to be adopted. Ty was on the website just half a day when I found him. I didn't know he had stripes until I picked him up and I went crazy when I saw how beautiful he was. He walked right up to me and leaned against me looking at me like "are you my mother?" He came home and was perfect from day one. He's my angel. He's with me almost every hour of every day. As you saw during your visit, he is a sideshow!"
He got to eat his lunch right away too when I arrived and the look he gave me when he was done - and hello - wanted more! Priceless!
And then we played the "Attack the Cheese Grater" game. He got all excited of this!!! He was so intent on the cabinet where the grater resides and as soon as it was open...boy look out!
Carie told him to wave - and he did! And seriously - he has the longest tongue ever! What a ham - he totally posed it up for me.
Thanks for sharing Carie. Oh - and Ty is the official mascot for Ultimate Fitness!

On A Sunny Day...
I received this little cute card in the mail last friday. The envelope was all decked out in little heart stickers and the front of the card had the cutest embellishment and read "on a sunny day"...

I was totally eager to open this envelope. I even read it aloud to Cory!
"A boy named Adam and a girl named Denice got married. It was a beautiful day with all their family and friends coming together from far and near. There was great good, beautiful flowers, glowing candles, music and dancing. Everyone was dressed in their finest. A wonderful photographer named Jennifer Dunham-Starr captured it all. A few months later when all the food was gone, the flowers wilted and the candles melted, a spectacular book arrived. The book created by Jennifer allowed Adam and Denice to relive their special day over and over again.
Now whenever they want, if they are happy or sad, they can look through the book and it brings smiles to their faces. It reminds them of how lucky they are. The book allows them to appreciate their great family and friends and their wonderful life. They will treasure it forever!
Thank you Jennifer Dunham-Starr from the bottom of our hearts."
--Adam and Denice
I just love that we accomplish over and over again what we set out to do. To "teach others the passion of living". We continue to build up friendships and I love that our clients view us as their friends, as do we.
Thanks to our whole Memory Journalists team in helping me make such album creations possible with the added artistic viewpoints you bring to each wedding day.
